Petrobras launched a tender to acquire engineering services, purchases, construction and installation of a fiber optic network connecting oil and gas production units in the pre-salt of the Santos basin, on the southeast coast of Brazil.
The project aims to interconnect 13 platforms and control centers (cable terminals) to be installed in the municipalities of Praia Grande and Rio de Janeiro, in the states of São Paulo and Rio, respectively.
The production units to be interconnected are: PMXL-1, in the Mexilhão field; P-66, P-67, P-68, P-69 and P-70, in Tupi; P-74, P-75, P-76 and P-77, in Búzios; P-71, scheduled to produce the first oil in Itapu in 2023; and the FPSOs Guanabara and Sepetiba, which are expected to start operating in the Mero 1 and 2 fields of the Libra block in 2021 and 2023.
The fiber optic network will consist of more than 1,000 km of lines, and the federally controlled oil company is already considering expanding it to connect another 20 offshore platforms.
The bidding scope covers geophysical and geotechnical surveys, detailed engineering, offshore and onshore installation services, subsea interconnections and pull-ins with the production units, among others.
The contracted company must supply offshore vessels to support operations.
The contract will be 900 days and interested parties will have between February 19 and April 20, 2021 to present the offers.
Possible candidates include Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), Subcom, NEC and Prysmian, who specialize in turnkey telecommunications cable projects.
An industry executive who asked not to be named said the deal could be worth $ 100-150 million.
In a recent interview, Petrobras' director of digital transformation and innovation, Nicolas Simone, said that the fiber optic network will help the company increase the robotization of its platforms.
